Summary
|
Wayne Rankin as a designer has been at the cutting edge of digital imaging since the early eighties. He is the recipient of many awards both in print and new media and has had work published in many Australian and International publications. He firmly believes that design and digital technology are an incredibly powerful and persuasive medium for communicating information across all forms of space and media.
Wayne applies this vision and philosophy to all of his projects....from his art, to his professional design assignments in print, multimedia, stamps, exhibitions and to his love of nature.

Wayne Rankin is a highly awarded designer with 35 years of experience in translating client vision and goals through creative visual communications.
Wayne co-founded the Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA) in 1988 and served as National and Victorian president for four years. He is a member of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Among other memberships either current or past are:
-the Victorian Premiere’s Task Force on Communications & Multimedia Development
-the Multimedia Content Advisory Group for Education Victoria,
-the National School of Design’s Advisory Committee at Swinburne University of Technology, Victoria and
-Australian Innovation, conveners of Innovation Festival and Leader in Innovation series.
Wayne has numerous published papers and speeches covering his contribution to Australian graphic design.

Design and Digital Imaging for 'The Nature of Australia' Stamp Series - a breakthrough in digital art.

Wayne designed and digitally imaged the complete series of the Definitive Stamp Series for Australia Post, which began in 1996. The Definitive Stamp Series featured flora, fauna and habitats of Australia.
In July 2004 the final designs in “The Nature of Australia” Series of stamps were released. A year earlier, in 2003 part of the series featuring Wayne’s bird stamps were exhibited in the “Away with the Birds” exhibition at the Australia Post Post Master Gallery in Melbourne. The exhibition featured ‘The art of birds on Australian stamps 1849-2003’ For details refer to Artists Notes
